Accounting Manager

Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager will oversee the organization's financial operations and lead the accounting team. This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, effective leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex financial processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and operations.

This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Description of Duties:

Leadership

• Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
• Develop and update financial policies and procedures
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and financial system optimization

Technical

• Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end processes, general ledger, accounts payable/purchasing, payroll and benefits, budgeting, and financial reporting
• Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce accurate financial reports and statements
• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and financial regulations
• Develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information
• Prepare and present financial forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic financial recommendations to senior management
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain internal controls and safeguard financial assets

Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA designation
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in public accounting
• Payroll experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and accounting software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software packages. Vista and SAP knowledge preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
