Virtual Designer Assemblies Detailer

Position Summary:

The Virtual Designer Assemblies Detailer works closely with internal, external, and customers to build a virtual models, create drawings, write reports and evaluations. Follow the Tweet/Garot virtual construction standards and workflow to produce layout drawings using Inventor, Vault and AutoCAD for ongoing projects and phases. This role requires a solid understanding of metal fabrication & welding practices so they can lead projects from all areas of the company. Potential travel to customer locations to aid in troubleshooting and/or collaboration of design.

Description of Duties:

• Build 3D modeling and coordination of mechanical systems for fabrication
• Initial job set up within AutoCAD and/or Inventor
• Lead design, scheduling and deliverable efforts.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal team members in design and manufacturing.
• Follow Tweet Garot CED modeling, drawing and numbering standards
• Create models, drawings, layouts, production drawings (detail and assembly drawings) and construction fabrication drawings from the field.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Communicates with the shop fabrication team to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Open to complete new training opportunities
• Assist with engineering calculations and constructability items when it comes to prefabrication
• Assist with mentoring the young team members with general coordination practices
• Assist with reviewing submittal documents and identifying problems with PM’s/AM’s
• Advance workflows through Pre-Construction to manufacturing and the field and continue to identify inefficiencies and bring resolve to them.
• Effective model management throughout the project.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Trade education (Journeyman Card) or a degree in design, a background in Inventor/CAD and Vault, and strong understanding of commercial construction
• 3 years of Inventor experience
• Experience using Autodesk products
• Ability to read and comprehend construction and coordination documents.
• Flexibility, time management and organizational skills, excellent follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are a must.
• Desire and ability to learn new skills quickly and to take direction.
• Strong technology skills, including Revit, Navis Works, AutoCAD MEP, MS Office, Blue Beam, Plant 3D, and Inventor.
• Point layout tool software experience
• 3D scanning software experience
• General construction math is required
