Senior Designer

twenty2 wallpaper is a high end private label wallpaper and textile production company. We assist artists and designers in developing innovative digital wallpaper and textile collections and custom projects. We are seeking an experienced Senior Designer with an emphasis on textile design, project management, and product development, to work full-time, in-person in our Design Department. The role of the Senior Designer position involves spearheading the entire product development journey, from identifying emerging trends and consumer needs to forming innovative concepts, crafting technical specifications, and collaborating with cross- functional teams to bring the vision to life. Championing process improvements at all steps of the product life cycle for the following categories: wallpaper, textile, and site specific projects in the range of hospitality, residential, and fine art. Follow each category through the product design and development journey ensuring design accuracy and integrity at all design and development touch points delivering exceptional products that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also user-friendly, within budget, and manufacturable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The primary function of this role will be to take the lead in the design and development of original and manufacturable textile design based on concept direction and under the guidance of the Creative Director.
• Lead a design project from start to finish, ensuring that it's delivered on time, on budget, and within scope.
• Own the PD&D process, seeing product from concept, to BOM, to sampling and production, to ensure design consistency and product integrity.
• Oversee project with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and product development team.
  

• Work proactively to keep the team and development calendar on track.
• Manage change by identifying potential risks to the project's scope, schedule, budget, and actively eliminating potential blockers.
• Generate all specs and bill of materials (BOM) and tech packages including, but not limited to, initial product development, color guides, re-designs and revisions for production.
• Communicate directly with customers and/or vendors and installers.

• Have an in-depth understanding of fabric and wallpaper qualities, constructions, techniques, manufacturing, installations- and how they affect price points and end use.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and feedback to design team members.
• Stay updated on advancements in textile technology, sustainable practices, and industry best practices- sharing insights and recommendations with the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 7-10 years textile design experience or a related field
• Proven track record of successfully bringing innovative products to market
• Ability to project manage while building strong cross-functional and collaborative relationships
• Excellent communication, problem solving, collaboration, and time management skills 
• Can listen well and follow direction
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adopt to change
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
• Desire to exceed expectations and self motivate
• Is dedicated, creative, positive, and resourceful
• A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating beautiful functional products
• Understanding of historical context and significance of pattern, design and color, as well as an appreciation for the fine art world.
• Seeks assistance when faced with obstacles and asks questions when faced with ambiguity
• Advanced in the creative suite with an emphasis in Photoshop
