Role
We are seeking an established Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of a US-based broker dealer. In this role, you will ensure compliance with regulations, oversee the preparation of financial reports, and contribute to the delivery of financial insights for senior management. This position plays a critical part in maintaining regulatory standards and driving the financial success of the broker dealer operations.
Main responsibilities include:
- Preparing financial reports and adhering to US GAAP standards.
- Managing the annual audit process and resolving any findings.
- Developing and implementing internal financial controls.
- Ensuring compliance with SEC and FINRA regulations, including preparing Form X-17A-5.
- Staying updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and broker dealer practices.
- Collaborating with senior management, trading, operations, legal, and compliance teams.
- Monitoring and analyzing metrics like profitability, liquidity, and solvency.
- Handling ad-hoc financial tasks as directed by senior management.
Key Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of FINOP experience in a US broker dealer.
- Active Series 27 license.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC, and FINRA regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and systems (experience with Workday Financials is a plus).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
