CAD Design Engineer – 3D Modeling (engineering drafting exp. req.) Description
Our client, a commercial design, manufacturing, and installation company, is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team (4 designers, 30 company-wide) in SW Baltimore, MD. From retail showcases to cabinetry and custom millwork, you’ll be at the helm of designing and drafting these custom commercial projects. Small projects range from $20,000-$50,000 while larger projects vary from $500,000-$1M. They’re looking for candidates who have been in a manufacturing/production environment overseeing the conceptualization and drawings of custom products. Any experience with millwork would be a huge plus but you’ll be mentored by a Sr. Designer who will help in getting you up to speed on their scope of work. CAD Design Engineer – 3D Modeling (engineering drafting exp. req.) Responsibilities
• Utilize 3D modeling software to interpret designs and create drawings
• Develop designs from scratch and use existing renderings when able
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements
• Review product designs to ensure they meet required safety and structural standards
• Submit shop drawings to customers for approval and make revisions as needed
• Deliver detailed drawings and documentation to the shop for production
• Conduct regular inspections during the production phase
• Partner cross-functionally when changes or challenges arise
• Ensure quality and timeliness of designs around customer specifications
• Participate in continuous education activities to expand work portfolio
CAD Design Engineer – 3D Modeling (engineering drafting exp. req.) Qualifications
• 5 years of product design and drafting experience required
• 3D modeling experience with furnishings, fixtures, and/or carpentry required
• Experience designing custom products from concept to production required
• Able to work onsite daily required
