What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifelong Learning Go-Team Member Internship position at Twin Cities PBS Careers?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports pop-up and intermittent in-person educational programming across TPT’s viewing area, focusing mainly on summer library-based events and interacting with children, parents, and caregivers. This role works approximately 20 hours per week and is a temporary role from June 2025 to August 2025. Anticipated schedule is Tuesday through Friday, approximately 9:00 am to 2:00 pm working at community library sites.
Rate of Pay: $22 per hour

MAJOR AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (95% of time)
In partnership with Lifelong Learning staff:
- Staff events that support TPT’s mission around lifelong learning, particularly during summer months.
- Travel to sites across the Twin Cities metro and occasionally greater Minnesota.
- Set-up and tear-down of tabling configuration and activities.
- Pack, refresh and organize activities, noting where more or different materials are needed.
- Support purchasing and transport of new materials.
- Implement activities in an age-appropriate and upbeat manner.
- Suggest new activities and/or iterations on existing activities, based on community needs and strengths.
- Interact with children, parents and caregivers.
- Answer and/or refer questions about TPT writ large.
- Act as a professional and positive TPT ambassador.
- Serve as guide/companion for PBS costumed characters.
Other duties as assigned (5% of time)
- Participate as an active member of the Lifelong Learning Team. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience
- Seeking a BA or AA in education, child development, communications or relevant field.
- Knowledge and experience in developing and facilitating culturally responsive programming for diverse audiences.
Preferred Experience
- Sees diverse experiences and perspectives as the essential components of a successful educational initiative.
- Familiarity with collaborative approaches
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Consistent availability Tuesday-Friday, 9 AM-2PM, from June 1-August 1
- Able to adapt and tailor communication to meet audience needs, with bi/multilingual ability preferred (with an emphasis on Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Karen and English).
- Strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently, and the ability to meet deadlines for time sensitive assignments.
- Fluent user of Microsoft Office (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Teams.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel.
