This is a seasonal position working from May to approximately the end of August.
- Investigates and responds to complaints;
- Assists in chemical, mechanical, and biological control treatments;
- Monitors wee treatment areas;
- Keeps daily log of activities;
- Helps with weed treatment, mappings, and monitoring of all BLM & Cost Share projects;
- Maintains sprayers and equipment;
- Keeps abreast of potential new invading weeds;
- Cleans and maintains vehicles, shop, tools, etc;
- Answers phones, takes messages, and greets walk-in traffic as necessary;
- Assists with department mailings;
- Covers duties of Secretary, if needed;
- May oversee the Bio-Control Projects in Twin Falls County; and
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain professional applicator's license;
- Must have a valid Idaho Drivers license;
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalency;
- Possess knowledge of and ability to operate equipment used in weed control;
- Ability to tolerate various pesticides;
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. up to 40% of the time;
- Position involves pushing, climbing, reaching walking, pulling, manual dexterity to operate equipment, grasping, talking, and hearing;
- Requires outdoor travel and works in adverse weather conditions;
- Ability to perform repetitive movement for extended periods of time;
- Ability to remember (calibration, etc.);
- Knowledge of chemistry and weed control practices and techniques;
- Knowledge of general office procedures;
- Knowledge of equipment used in weed control;
- Ability to operate mechanical equipment (four wheeler, motorcycle, weed eater, etc.);
- Recognize and distinguish various vegetation;
- Public relation and verbal/written communication skills; and
- Ability to perform essential duties efficiency and accurately with or without reasonable accommodation and without endangering incumbent or other employees.

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, move about in irregular terrain, drive, use hands to keyboard or type, handle chemicals, materials, tools, spray equipment, or manipulate papers and files. The employee often lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and is regularly required to perform strenuous physical activity. Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close and distance vision to perform field work and office work. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification include those which permit the employee to discern verbal communication and communicate effectively in person and by telephone. While performing the duties of this classification, the employee works in a maintenance shop setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and in an outdoor setting in all weather conditions performing field work in back country locations.
