Regular Hours Worked: 70 hrs. in 8 days are required by FMCSR
Summary:
The overall purpose and objective of this position is to provide the very best logistics for our customers in delivery and pick-up of all types of freight to be transported to all points. This position requires that the driver must conduct themselves in an extremely safe and professional manner at all times.
It is vitally important that the driver is able to comprehend and comply with all verbal instructions due to the fact that there is constant customer contract at delivery and pic-up points. Also, he/she must be able to read all shipping documents, must communicate over the phone with dispatch and understand instructions, and must be able to complete all required DOT documents and must be able to read maps and signs.
Essential Functions of this position:
1. Driving tractor-trailer 48-53 foot 102 inch wide
2. Drop and hook- slide tandems
3. Unloading/Loading
4. Fueling
5. Paperwork
6. Vehicle Safety Inspection
7. Able to react to change in productivity and handle other essential tasks as assigned
Accountabilities:
1. Safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination
2. Proper safe loading and unloading of freight to assure safety and minimal risk of damage to cargo and danger to yourself or any other persons
3. Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to truck operations and freight movements.
4. Professional representation of Twin Lake Trucking and the trucking industry through responsibility and professional safe driving always conducting yourself in a safe and professional manner.
5. Follow all safety rules and practices to insure that you are preforming the duties of your position in a safe and consistent manner this is to insure that your always aware of potential danger in order to prevent injury.
Requirements:
1. Must be able to work independently without immediate supervision
2. Must demonstrate and maintain communication skills (reading, writing and verbal)
3. Must have the ability and skill to read and understand all customer and company correspondence
4. Must possess the ability to communicate professionally over the phone
5. Must have the ability to understand and follow directions
6. The driver in this position also has access to and handles company funds due to the fact that the driver is advanced money to pay tolls, ect
7. Must have ability to operate PeopleNet/XRS communication system
8. Must be a team player and be able to get along with others.
9. Must have the ability to react and accept change of procedure and productivity
10. Must have the ability to accept other assigned essential tasks
11. Must have the ability to prioritize work load, manage time and work under tight time constraints set by the company or by the customer
12. Must have knowledge of state and federal regulation regarding the safety operation of a commercial motor vehicle
13. Must maintain a flexible schedule and have the ability to be away from home for extended periods of time
14. Must be able to sleep in truck sleeper as defined in the FMCSR
15. The work experience (including length of time), training, and/or level of education is required to perform this position
