TITLE: FITNESS COORDINATOR
Reports to: Wellness Director
Job status: Full-time, Non-exempt position
Hours: Monday – Friday
Qualifications: The fitness coordinator must have experience teaching fitness classes while teaching safe and effective exercise. Must hold at least one current and fully accredited fitness certification. Must have a passion for fitness and for working with active aging adults.
Summary of position:
As a Fitness Coordinator at Twin Lakes Community, this position performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of care and upholds a high standard of service to the residents and staff. The incumbent must work collectively with the Wellness Coordinator to provide the highest level of fitness programming exhibiting flexibility and a “can-do” attitude that is in alignment with the culture at Twin Lakes Community. This position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization always exercising the upmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in resident/staff interaction.
Fitness Coordinator job duties and responsibilities
- Instruct fitness classes for residents/staff.
- Taking appointments for one-on-one or small group training/instruction.
- Oversee fitness class programs and class offerings to keep residents engaged.
- Explore ideas and opportunities to personalize the fitness program to increase resident participation.
- Help conduct scheduled educational mini-clinics/workshops.
- Help with the fitness center’s risk management daily checklist/maintenance book logging.
- Help keep fitness center tidy and clean.
- Light data entry using the Thrive wellness portal- track class attendance.
- Perform fitness testing and functional testing.
- Be visible on the workout floor when not teaching classes.
- Collaboration with the Wellness Coordinator/Life Enrichment Coordinators on wellness initiatives, activities, new employee orientations and Blitz presentations as part of the Lifestyle Team (wellness committee).
- Work with the Wellness Coordinator to create a positive gym experience for all residents and staff.
- Develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain total wellbeing programming to reduce health risk, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles.
- Participate as a member of the LifeStyle Team (Wellness Committee)
- Answer resident and employee questions regarding benefits and wellbeing program.
- Assist in drafting communications with respect to programming to provide continuing education.
- Implement wellbeing related activities. Examples include: health screenings, lunch and learn seminars, bloodmobile, flu-shots, fitness classes, etc.
- Integrate wellness/fitness program initiatives into culture and organizational mission. Participate in the WW programming to infuse thoughtful suggestions for wellness and fitness to employees.
- Keep abreast of current national wellness and wellbeing initiatives and activities, developing a network of resources and contacts.
- Explore ideas and opportunities to personalize the program to increase participation.
- Special projects as assigned
- Develop creative program materials, including promotional pieces.
- Understand the stages of change in relation to behavior modification programming.
- Motivate participants to set and reach health goals.
- Integrate wellness/fitness program initiatives into culture and organizational mission.
- Lead special projects and initiatives.
- Assist in the measurement and evaluation of the program components.
- Work in fast-paced and loud environment.
- Display a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple projects/tasks.
- Display professionalism when dealing with employees and outside vendors.
- Accept and apply constructive feedback when it is given.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science, kinesiology, biomechanics, corporate wellness, or a related field preferred.
Certificates, licenses, registrations:
- Must hold at least one current and fully accredited fitness certification. Preferred certifications listed below:
- Senior Fit Certification
- Personal Training Certification
- Group Exercise Certification
- Fitness Professional Certification
- ACSM Certified Physiologist
- Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist
- Other NCCA Accredited Certification
