What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team Leader position at TWIN OAKS JUVENILE DEVELOPMENT INC?
The Apalachicola Forest Youth Camp (AFYC) Team Leader's primary responsibility is the daily supervision of youth while in education, sports, recreation and related activities. The Team Leader accepts responsibilities ftom Day or Night Shift Supervisor, depending on the shift assigned. In addition, as a staff member, the Team Leader's main concerns include the safety, supervision, advising, counseling, and role modeling for our students.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES include, but are not limited to:Supervises/assists students in basic education, vocation, sports, recreation and related courses.
- Facilitates/supervises related outdoor courses, vocational classes, educational classes, leisure activities, and daily living skills.
- Demonstrates appropriate social skills during all activities on and off-site.
- Assists/facilitates group and peer house meetings.
Documents and communicates incidents of any type through voice and written reports.
- Implements the behavior management system.
- Documents bed checks as required by AFYC policies.
- Contacts the Shift Supervisor or administrative staff as directed and notifies them of problems and/or incidents.
- Completes incident, accident, and behavioral reports according to procedures.
Manages classroom and all related facility's equipment, supplies, and training resources.
- Facilitates supervision and instruction for all activities as needed.
- Teaches students how to maintain all equipment within compliance standards.
- Supervises practical application training of students in vocational equipment maintenance.
- Maintains repair and maintenance logs and inventory.
Supervises students during all hours of the day, including meal-times, according to the supervision policy.
- Serves as advisor and positive role model for assigned students.
- Prevents and intervenes in student altercations and incidents.
- Assumes supervision responsibilities for absent instructors as directed by supervisor.
- Supervises / escorts students during on and off-site appointments or activities.
- Drives AFYC vehicles as required in accordance with the Department of Children and Families Policy.
- Administers first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with American Red Cross standards.
- Conducts and practices emergency evacuation procedures.
- Must correctly utilize Professional Crisis Management.
Maintains accurate and complete administrative file systems.
- Writes reports as required by program standards and report schedule.
- Completes administrative paperwork as required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, or child care setting or working with developmentally disabled persons.
- College or vocational / technical training from an accredited institution can substitute for the required experience. (Rate of 30 semester hours, 45 quarters or 720 classroom hours)
- Meet Level II criminal background check and drug screening, per state requirements.
- Must have a current state Driver's License.
