- Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the housekeeping and laundry staff, ensuring that they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
- Conduct regular training, performance evaluations, and staff meetings to maintain high operational standards.
- Develop work schedules and assign tasks to staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels for housekeeping and laundry services.
- Establish and enforce departmental policies and procedures in accordance with industry best practices and Twin Oaks Rehab and Nursing standards.
- Foster a positive work environment and ensure that all team members adhere to ethical and professional standards.
- Housekeeping Operations:
- Oversee and ensure the cleanliness of resident rooms, common areas, and administrative spaces.
- Implement cleaning protocols for infection control, especially during outbreaks, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Regularly inspect all areas of the facility to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards are met.
- Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance plan for cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Coordinate the ordering and management of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring proper inventory control and cost management.
- Laundry Operations:
- Supervise the operation of laundry services, ensuring that linens, towels, and resident clothing are laundered according to established protocols.
- Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and delivery of personal and facility laundry to residents in a timely manner.
- Monitor laundry operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to infection control and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of laundry inventory and equipment maintenance.
- Budget & Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the housekeeping and laundry department’s annual budget.
- Monitor and control expenditures related to cleaning supplies, equipment, and laundry services, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Analyze and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for housekeeping and laundry operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures when necessary.
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including infection control procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of housekeeping and laundry services to assess cleanliness, quality, and safety.
- Respond to resident, staff, and visitor feedback, addressing concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain records of compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), local health departments, and other governing agencies.
- Environmental Services Leadership:
- Promote a positive, compassionate, and caring environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Support the overall mission of Twin Oaks Rehab and Nursing by maintaining a clean and healthy environment that promotes the comfort and well-being of residents.
- Stay informed of industry trends and best practices in housekeeping and laundry services, implementing improvements as necessary.
- High School Diploma, Associate Degree and Bachelor’s degree in health administration, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in housekeeping and laundry services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role in a healthcare setting (preferably long-term care or rehabilitation).
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards, infection control protocols, and laundry operations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and train a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of budget management, cost control, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with relevant state and federal regulations governing housekeeping and laundry operations in healthcare facilities.
- Certification in Infection Control or related certifications (preferred).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach frequently during the workday.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
- Full-time position with a flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays as required.
- Occasional on-call duties in case of emergencies or staffing shortages.
