What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Supervisor position at Twin Rivers Paper Company LLC?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Actively supports and promotes safe work practices throughout the mill by being present at safety activities and personally encouraging safe behaviours. Conducts a monthly safety meeting and performs safety audits.
Enforces policies regarding health and safety as well as environment and ensures that issues are dealt with as efficiently as possible so the work environment is safe for employees.
Provides leadership and guidance to salaried and hourly employees while promoting employee involvement and participation in problem solving and continuous improvement.
Ensures that hourly employees have adequate training to support activities of the department and fulfil future manpower requirements.
Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, rules, regulations and the collective agreement and implements appropriate measures as required.
Works closely with sales employees and customer service to ensure quality products are available to customers.
Researches quality issues and decides on the disposition of this inventory.
Supports tech services with quality issues and dealing with the customer.
Ensures department compliance with ISO standards.
Attends and supports the daily mill production and participates in other meetings as necessary.
Assists with Product Stewardship
Composability testing and certification as well as recyclability testing and certification
Pest control
Assists with Food Safety Policy processes and GMP
Is responsible for weekend coverage on a rotation basis.
Shall have responsibility to report problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s). Designated personnel shall have defined responsibility and authority to initiate and record actions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience
Experience in pulp and paper industry
Computer skills to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor of Science in Pulp and Paper or Chemical Engineering with 4 years of manufacturing experience
· Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal relationship skills. Detail oriented, with experience which demonstrates data analysis and analytical problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to use statistical and graphical tools, including the ability to read, analyze and interpret and act against data
· Proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio).
· Experience working in cross-functional teams and/or leading departmental teams.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Quality Supervisor will be working in an office environment 80% and 20% of the time they will be involved in in laboratory setting.
