POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Cafeteria Worker
FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Cafeteria Manager
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 182 days
SUPERVISES: N/A
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to stand for at least five (5) continuous hours
- Ability to stoop, squat, kneel, bend, twist, turn and stretch
- Ability to lift a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds
PREFERRED:
- School food service experience or related experience
- Food Safety Manager’s Certification in a nationally accredited program
- Personal computer and keyboarding skills
- Exemplary attendance
- Superior work ethic and positive attitude
FOCUS:
Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food to meet the USDA's child nutrition guidelines and food safety regulations
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare all types of foods for breakfast, lunch and afterschool snacks according to planned menus, food production records, recipes, safe food handling procedures, and manager instruction
- Serve meals professionally and in a positive and appealing manner to students, teachers, staff, and community
- Communicate and interact positively with students, teachers, staff, and community
- Perform cleaning tasks including sweeping and mopping of floors, washing all food service equipment and surfaces, pots, pans and utensils
- Operate the dish machine to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation of all items
- Stock, label and handle food appropriately for storage
- Assist in operating cash register/computer for the purpose of ensuring student meals are properly sold and accounted for
- Maintain a good working environment and willingly help co-workers
- Attend job-related training classes and workshops

- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Cafeteria Manager
