GENERAL MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: General Manager
Reports To: Owner
Summary
The General Manager’s overall responsibility is to deliver the highest customer service to increase sales, profitability & the success of the franchise through: overseeing the hiring, training and motivation of franchise employees; overseeing and executing marketing and sales plans; controlling costs and improving profitability; and consistently exceeding customer expectations. The General Manager should have strong knowledge of functional support areas, including our core business, sales, finance, human resources, training, marketing & payroll.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Establishes systems, policies and procedures for key areas;
- Drives continual improvement of key areas of the business
- Oversees vendor agreements and contract negotiations to ensure strong working relationship and cost reductions where necessary
- Works with marketing coordinator to develop & execute the franchise marketing plan
- Works with sales staff to develop and execute the franchise sales plan
- Works with the operations staff to ensure the profitability of moves as well as exceptional customer service
- Responsible for establishing staffing requirements, conducting interviews, new hire process and training of new employees
- Responsible for employee accountability and adherence to franchise system standards & policies
- Responsible for employee development, accountability and corrective action programs
- Oversees all workers compensation and unemployment claims
- Ensures franchise compliance with all DOT regulations and FMCSA guidelines
- Ensures and recommends the appropriate training and development programs for staff offered through Stick men university® to further the knowledge of the system
- Actively participates in community, industry or other relevant associations
- Drives communication upward through monthly reports of all functional areas for executive review
- Other duties as assigned by the Franchisee
Supervisory:
§ Responsible for the direction and day-to-day supervision of all management and office staff
Education/Experience:
§ Bachelor’s Degree in business, management or other related field is required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities (SKA) Required:
§ Physical ability to provide moving services – heavy lifting, being on your feet for long periods
§ Extensive knowledge of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system policies, procedures & industry
§ Strong understanding of financial statements
§ Excellent oral and written comprehension and communication skills
§ Excellent organizational and time management skills
§ Demonstrated ability to lead by example to motivate, develop and direct people
§ Ability to assess the performance of self, employees and franchise to make improvements or take corrective action
§ Strong decision making ability
§ Understanding of and commitment to customer service and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® core values
§ Must be proficient with the following Microsoft applications:
o Excel
o Word
o Outlook
Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards however, occasionally lifting of up to 100 pounds may be necessary. Travel is minimal but may be required for training purposes. Interviews and training will occur at our Buffalo, NY office.
