Summary: Under the supervision of the Kewanee Program Director, the Youth Assistant leads all assigned activities in the Youth & Family Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises volunteers. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years of professional cleaning experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy/procedure manuals, and employment applications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with member/non-members, employees, vendors and contractors.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages. Interpret budget reports and effectively communicate monthly variances.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in abstract and standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR/AED, Blood borne Pathogens, Child Abuse prevention, a valid Driver’s License and valid Car Insurance.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must have knowledge of how to effectively use the assigned chemicals and have an understanding of proper handling of these chemicals. Must have competence on a computer.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but at times loud.

- Manage the assigned duties.
- Ensure assigned areas are being thoroughly cleaned.
- Develop plan for sanitizing assigned areas of the facility.
- Ensure the areas of the facility are safe.
- Coordinate with Executive Director for equipment and supplies needs.
- Maintain accurate records for task lists.
- Attend all staff meetings and training events as required.
- Maintain a professional image in the YMCA and community.
- Schedule regular meetings with Executive Director to ensure the facility has been properly cleaned and sanitized throughout the year.
- Communicate effectively with staff and members.
- Assist with other custodians when needed.
