Software Development Manager - Cary, NC (USA) or Europe: Role Summary
Our Global IT team is looking for a missionary to serve as Software Development Manager to lead a team of developers and oversee software development projects from start to end.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire a team of software developers, providing guidance on best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the development team.
- Oversee the end-to-end software development life cycle, from requirements gathering to design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ensure the team follows best practices for software development and adheres to coding standards.
- Manage the selection, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's technology stack, including programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
- Lead and coordinate software development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, objectives, and success criteria.
- Oversee quality assurance and control mechanisms to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, the use of best practices, and to identify and address software defects.
- Implement and promote appropriate development methodologies (e.g., agile, disciplined agile, Kanban, etc.), ensuring the team's ability to respond quickly to changing business requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between development and other departments.
- Support the professional growth and development of team members through mentorship, training, and other learning opportunities.
Experience Requirements:
- Proven 5 or more years’ experience in a leadership role within software development.
- In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, programming languages, and development tools.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Familiarity with agile development practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to align software development strategies with business objectives.
