Firestone Polymers, LLC is headquartered in Lake Charles, LA and manufactures polymers and synthetic rubber in our world-class ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 registered plant located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Firestone's unique anionic polymerization technology allows production of high purity, high molecular weight polybutadiene and a wide range of block, random, and vinyl modified styrene-butadiene copolymers. These products are sold around the world for use in tires, impact modification of plastics and hot melt adhesives. Statistical process control is used in every step of the operation. Firestone Polymers, LLC is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas, a division of Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company.

BATCH LAB ANALYST WILL:

COLLECT AND LOG INTO THE LABORATORY INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ALL SAMPLES IN THE 1400 AND 1500 AREAS AND ILLUSTRATING PROFICIENCY IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS

• DRUM DRY ALL 1400 AREA REACTOR AND 1500 AREA BLEND TANK SAMPLES
• SHEETING OUT AND LABELING ALL SAMPLES BROUGHT INTO THE PHYSICAL LAB FROM THE 1400 AND 1500 AREAS AND PLACING THEM INO THE DRYING OVEN OR DELIVER TO THE CHEMICAL LAB FOR TESTING
• LABEL AND DELIVER ALL 1400 AND 1500 AREA LIQUID FIELD SAMPLES TO CHEMICAL LAB FOR APPROPRIATE TESTING
• INSTRUMENTAL ANALYSIS INCLUDING SAMPLE PREPARATION, ANALYSIS, AND DISPOSAL AS OUTLINED IN THE ATTACHED FLMS.
• OTHER TESTS AS NEW INSTRUMENTS ARE ADDED

PERFORM ALL BATCH RELATED TESTS AS OUTLINED IN THE PROCESS CONTROL PHILOSOPHY, TESTING SCHEDULE(S) AND PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS ON ALL BATCH REACTORS AND BATCH BLEND TANKS.

DURING A BATCH OUTAGE THE BATCH ANALYST WILL BE REQUIRED TO ASSIST THE CHEMICAL, PHYSICAL AND FIELD ANALYSTS AS INSTRUCTED BY THE PROCESS CONTROL COORDINATOR OR PLANT CHEMIST.

PARTICIPATE IN ALL REQUIRED TRAINING AND PASS ALL REQUIRED TESTS, BOTH WRITTEN AND PERFORMANCE, WITH A MINIMUM SCORE OF 80%.

HAVE THE CAPACITY TO PERFORM ALL OF THE ATTACHED FLM’S RELATED TO THE BATCH ASSIGNMENT.           

POST ANALYSIS RESULTS ON APPROPRIATE LOG SHEETS AND ENTER ANALYSIS RESULTS INTO THE LIMS COMPUTER SYSTEMS AS SOON AS THEY ARE OBTAINED.

PERFORMING HOUSEKEEPING AS OUTLINED BY THE PROCESS CONTROL COORDINATORS, PLANT CHEMIST OR PRINTED WORK INSTRUCTIONS.

PERFORMING ANY OTHER DUTIES SPECIFIED BY THE PROCESS CONTROL COORDINATORS, PLANT CHEMIST OR PRINTED WORK INSTRUCTIONS.

IN CASE OF MAJOR SPILLS, THE LABORATORY ANALYST WILL NOTIFY THE PROCESS CONTROL COORDINATOR TO CONTACT THE HAZ-MAT TEAM FOR CLEAN UP, AS THE ANALYST IS NOT TRAINED IN THE PROPER HAZ-MAT PROCEDURES.

PERFORM CALIBRATIONS ON GPC INSTRUMENTS

RUN CONTROLS ON GPC INSTRUMENTS AND REPORT TO PLANT CHEMIST IF INSTRUMENT DOES NOT MEET SPECIFICATIONS.  MAINTAIN CONTROL DOCUMENTAION IN LIMS IF SPECIFICATIONS ARE NOT MET BY THE GPC.

WRITE WORK ORDERS IN IFS ON ANY EQUIPMENT THAT IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.

TAKE INVENTORY OF SUPPLIES NEEDED AND INFORM THE PLANT CHEMIST BY FILLING OUT THE ORDER FORM.

BE CROSS-TRAINED TO WORK AS FIELD LAB ANALYST AS WELL.

Qualifications:

• ASSOCIATE OR BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN RELEVANT TECHNICAL FIELD
• RELEVANT LABORATORY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
• STRONG COMPUTER SKILLS
• WILLINGNESS TO WORK OVERTIME
• ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING SHIFTS
• MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR RESPIRATOR
