Ty's STEM Aces converges AI STEM principles applied to tennis. It will run as an innovative two-week session at Design Tech High School (d.tech) where participants will explore cutting-edge technology applications in sports science, such as AI-powered swing analysis, injury prevention solutions, and robotics, while engaging in hands-on projects designed to advance curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
d.tech, is a public charter school renowned for its emphasis on design-thinking and student-centered learning. Located on the Oracle campus, the school provides a state-of-the-art environment to inspire creativity and practical application of skills.
Passionate and knowledgeable STEM educators, ideally willing to volunteer their time to lead students through this engaging program are desired.
Responsibilities
Instruction & Facilitation
- Deliver interactive lessons on AI, robotics, biomechanics, and data analysis in the context of tennis performance and sports science.
- Guide students through hands-on projects, including:
- Building AI models for swing analysis.
- Designing injury-prevention solutions using predictive modeling.
- Experimenting with robotics and wearable technologies.
Student Engagement
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that encourages creativity and problem-solving.
- Provide mentorship and feedback to students as they develop technical and analytical skills.
Program Integration
- Align lessons with the curriculum framework, ensuring students connect STEM concepts to real-world sports applications.
- Collaborate with program organizers to adjust lesson plans as needed for optimal delivery.
Career Pathway Exploration
- Introduce students to potential STEM careers, particularly those at the intersection of sports and technology.
- Share insights on the global sports industry and its reliance on innovation and data-driven solutions.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as:
- Computer Science, Engineering, or Robotics.
- Sports Science, Biomechanics, or Kinesiology.
- Education with a focus on STEM or technology integration.
- Experience teaching STEM-related subjects to high school students is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of AI, machine learning, and robotics applications.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as:
