Position Title: Jet Ski and Boat Rental Dockhand - Tybee Island Watersports

Position Overview: Tybee Island Watersports is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Jet Ski and Boat Rental Dockhand to join our team and provide exceptional service to guests renting jet skis and boats. This role involves assisting guests with rental equipment, giving thorough instructions on operation and safety protocols, and ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all customers. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for watersports, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet guests warmly as they arrive at the rental dock, providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
• Assist guests with rental paperwork, ensuring all necessary documents are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Provide thorough instructions on the operation of jet skis and boats, including safety procedures, controls, and navigation tips.
• Conduct pre-rental inspections of equipment, checking for any damage or maintenance issues and addressing concerns promptly.
• Assist guests with fitting personal flotation devices (PFDs) and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Monitor rental activity on the dock, coordinating the departure and return of rental equipment to maintain an organized and efficient workflow.
• Answer questions and provide recommendations to guests regarding local attractions, points of interest, and water conditions.
• Uphold cleanliness and organization standards on the rental dock, including regular maintenance tasks such as fueling, cleaning, and storage of equipment.
• Collaborate with other staff members and management to address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations throughout the rental process.
• Promote additional services and amenities offered by Tybee Island Watersports, such as guided tours, retail merchandise, and special packages, to enhance the guest experience and maximize revenue opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a courteous and professional manner.
• Knowledge of jet ski and boat operation, including safety procedures and basic maintenance tasks is preferred.
• Customer service experience in a hospitality or recreational environment preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, outdoor environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and customer needs.
• Basic math skills for processing rental transactions and handling cash payments.
• Physical stamina and agility to perform duties such as lifting, bending, and maneuvering rental equipment.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as needed to accommodate peak business periods.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid, or willingness to obtain certification upon hiring.

• Pay ranges from $15 per hour.
• Full-time and part-time “summer” positions available.
• Gratuities are customary in this industry.
