Tycko & Zavareei LLP, a mid-sized plaintiffs' civil litigation law firm, seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join its Oakland, CA office, beginning April/May 2025, to aid in the litigation of important, impactful cases nationwide.
This is a full-time, hybrid work opportunity, ideal for someone with experience in a professional legal support role who is accustomed to a fast-paced environment and able to hit the ground running by May (or earlier). Prior paralegal experience at a civil litigation law firm and/or experience with California state court systems is highly preferred.

ABOUT THE JOB
- Position: Paralegal (full-time, non-exempt)
- Start Date: April/May
- Location: Oakland, CA (hybrid; in-office work on average 1-3 days/week)
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:30PM (40 hours/week, occasional overtime)

Responsibilities/Duties
- Organize and maintain case files, internal records, and attorney calendars to reflect matter docket and deadlines
- Draft and proofread correspondence, memos, and other communications
- Manage and coordinate complex briefings and electronically file pleadings and motions in accordance with court local rules and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
- Act as a reference point for California state court filings
- Routinely communicates with attorneys, clients, and co-counsel about case status and preparation
- Assist attorneys with propounding and responding to discovery (interrogatories, requests for admissions, and request for production, subpoenas, and preparing deposition binders)
- Conduct client intakes and conduct case intake calls; speak with class members
- Perform basic legal factual research using Westlaw and online resources
- Work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Assist attorneys and other teammates on special projects and other duties as assigned
- Provide ad hoc assistance to California office operations
Education/Experience:
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree (or other college degree/certification together with substantial professional paralegal work experience)
- Either: Minimum one year of work in a professional legal support role under the direct supervision of a licensed California attorney -or- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program (must provide completion record)
- Minimum one year of professional office experience; experience in a law firm setting is preferred

- Anticipated Base Rate: $30.75–$33.15/hour (commensurate with experience)
- Time-and-one-half overtime pay
