Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Plant Controller to join our dynamic manufacturing team. This role requires an individual with extensive experience in high SKU, high-volume environments, coupled with a proven ability to drive operational excellence and support strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in lean manufacturing, cost management, and financial leadership to enhance decision-making and optimize plant performance.
- Work with the current plant Controller to prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Conduct detailed analysis of operational costs, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
- Monitor and manage cost accounting systems, including standard costing, variance analysis, and product margins
- Ensure the accuracy of inventory records and lead perpetual inventory audits
- Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs
- Partner with Plant Controller and Plant Leadership to identify and implement process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles
- Analyze data to support decisions related to capital investments, product pricing, and operational efficiency
- Drive projects focused on profitability, waste reduction, and value creation
- Develop financial tools and models to improve visibility into plant performance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
- Mentor and support cross-functional teams to align financial and operational goals
- Assist the Controller in managing and developing the plant accounting team
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the finance department
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with high SKU, high-volume operations
- Proficiency in cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, or Oracle preferred)
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling tools
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, workflows, and cost drivers
- Ability to collaborate with production teams to analyze and optimize manufacturing costs
- Skilled in tracking, analyzing, and reporting on production costs
- Experience with cost allocation methods, including labor, overhead, and material costs
- Experienced in evaluating and updating standard costs
- Proven ability to work closely with managers to support operational and strategic initiatives
- Strong ability to build and manage financial models, reports, and dashboards for efficient analysis utilizing Excel
- Experienced in utilizing ERP systems to manage manufacturing accounting processes
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively across departments, including finance, production, and management
