The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, inventory management, and distribution of materials required for production. This role ensures that materials are available to meet production schedules while optimizing inventory levels, minimizing costs, and supporting operational efficiency. The Materials Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, logistics, and quality, to drive improvements in the supply chain and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage material requirements planning (MRP) processes to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure cost-effective purchasing and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.

• Oversee inventory control processes to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce excess or obsolete inventory.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy.
• Implement strategies to improve inventory turnover and reduce carrying costs.

• Coordinate with production teams to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
• Resolve material shortages or disruptions to minimize downtime.

• Analyze material usage trends, forecast demand, and adjust plans accordingly.
• Provide regular reports on inventory levels, material costs, and supplier performance to senior leadership.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance material flow, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
• Support initiatives related to lean manufacturing and supply chain optimization.

• Manage and mentor the materials team, ensuring alignment with company goals and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Provide training and development opportunities to team members.

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
