Our hospital offers full service urgent care, emergency medicine, surgery, and the only hospital in East Texas with 24/7 intensive care capabilities and staffing.
TAEH is looking for a kennel technician (technician assistant) to join our team.
The kennel/boarding assistant assists the veterinarian assistants and veterinarian with everyday necessary tasks (as outline below), takes care of the everyday needs of pets in the hospital ward and boarding facility, and helps maintains the hospital facility, keeping it neat and clean.

KENNEL TECHNICIAN (TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Patient care and monitoring (Cleaning kennels/cages in the boarding and emergency sides of the facility, feeding/watering and administering medications as needed to hospitalized patients, monitoring patients in the hospital and alerting veterinarian assistant/veterinarian with any issues)
- Safe handling and restraint of patients
- Completion of diagnostics (radiographs/lab work/etc.) and treatments ordered by the vet or veterinarian assistant.
- Medication knowledge, and ability to administer via proper route.
- Daily organization, inventory, and cleaning.
- Proficiency with Avimark (client/patient information, medical records/notes, charges) and Instinct.
- Additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to be on your feet for hours at a time
- Able to spend a good amount of time in front of a computer screen
- Able to read and understand English
The available work schedules for kennel technician are as follows:
Rotating Schedule #1- 4 on, 4 off.
- Weekday (M-F) hours: 4pm-2am
- Weekend (Sat/Sun) hours: 10am-12am
- Holidays
Schedule #2
- Weekday (M-F) hours: 8a-4p
- Holidays
Consideration for positions is based on skill level, availability, and needs of the hospital.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 46 per week
