Tyler Animal Emergency Hospital is proud to serve the pets and people of Smith County and beyond, treating over 6,000 pets annually. Our goal is to provide your furry friend with compassionate, outstanding care when your regular Veterinarian cannot.
Our hospital offers full service urgent care, emergency medicine, surgery, and the only hospital in East Texas with 24/7 intensive care capabilities and staffing.
The veterinary technician assists the veterinarian with everyday necessary tasks, takes care of the everyday needs of pets in the hospital ward and boarding facility (if necessary), and helps maintains the hospital facility, keeping it neat and clean. You will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our furry patients and supporting our veterinary team.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT/TECHNICIAN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Client Relations (client education and communication)
- Doctor Support
- Safe handling and restraint of animals
- Patient care and monitoring at all times
- Completion of diagnostics (radiographs/lab work/etc.) and treatments ordered by the vet
- Medication knowledge, and ability to administer via proper route
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and catheter placement
- Proficiency in pre-surgical patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
- Daily organization, inventory, and cleaning.
- Proficiency with Avimark (client/patient information, medical records/notes, charges)
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician
- Proficiency in handling and restraining animals safely and comfortably
- Knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, medications, and common diseases
- Strong communication skill and the ability to educate clients effectively
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine love for animals
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekend and occasional evenings
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to be on your feet for hours at a time
- Able to spend a good amount of time in front of a computer screen
- Able to read and understand English
TAEH is hiring for veterinary assistant/technician positions. The available work schedules are as follows:
We currently work a 4 on 4 off rotating schedule,
- Monday - Sunday: 9a - 9p & 9p - 9a

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
