Canterbury Golf Club, located in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a 2nd Assistant Superintendent to join their golf course maintenance team. Golf Course Superintendent Mike LoPresti and his team prioritize professional development and growth within their staff. This position has become available following the promotion of the former Senior Assistant to a Head Superintendent role, as well as the advancement of the previous Second Assistant to Senior Assistant. Notably, the former Senior Assistant is the third individual in the past eight years to transition into a superintendent role, highlighting the team's commitment to fostering career progression.
Club highlights :
- Staff : 20-25 during the peak of the season including 9 full-time year-round employees
- Annual rounds : Approximately 20,000
- Typical work schedule :
In-Season) April-September : 12 days on 2 days off or 6 days on 1 day off
Off-Season) October-March : M-F, with snow removal responsibilities every 3rd weekendGrass Types : Bent / Poa on fine turf. Mix of bluegrass, tall fescue and rye in the roughEquipment : Primarily purchased John DeereIrrigation : 5 row Toro OSMAC controllers with Lynx CentralFuture projects : On going projects associated with already approved master plan. Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervision of the staffAssist in making plant protectant and fertilizer applications to all surfacesAssist in making repairs to the irrigations system and all related componentsContribute to the daily maintenance of the golf course including and not limited to mowing, course set up, drainage maintenance, repair, and installation, hand watering, tree pruning and removal, snow plowing and removal, and other duties in the maintenance operation.Manage the inventory of plant protection products and fertilizersHave and continue to develop an attention to detail and use this skill to participate in weekly management meetingsAssist in the training of new employees in all aspects of golf course maintenanceAssist in scouting the course for disease and pestsDaily communication with the Superintendent, other management staff, and the rest of the crew on goals, course conditions, event planning, and other related activitiesPreferred Requirements :
