About the Role:
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive healthcare to children from infancy through adolescence. This position involves conducting thorough clinical assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, and promoting health and wellness in pediatric patients. The PNP will collaborate with families and healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans that prioritize patient safety and effective pain management. Additionally, the role requires staying updated on best practices in family medicine and pediatrics to ensure the highest quality of care. Ultimately, the PNP will contribute to the overall health outcomes of the pediatric population served by the Athens Clinic.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
- Must have current RN license for Texas, and current Pediatric or Family Medicine NP license/certification in Texas;
- Current BCLS Healthcare Card
- Current prescribing authority/DEA licensure in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years of clinical experience in pediatrics or family medicine.
- Bilingual in Spanish
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations of pediatric patients.
- Diagnose and manage common pediatric illnesses and conditions, providing appropriate treatment plans.
- Educate families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.

The required skills of clinical assessments and nursing are essential for the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to effectively evaluate and treat pediatric patients. Proficiency in family medicine allows the PNP to address a wide range of health issues, ensuring comprehensive care.
