What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN Assistant - THMH Kilmichael Clinic position at TYLER HOLMES MEMORIAL HOSPITAL?
Works under the direction of the Clinics Manager and Clinic Provider(s). Performs a variety of medically related tasks in a rural health care clinic setting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing patients accurately, recording vital signs and patient chief complaint. Be available and assist their assigned health care provider in all matters related to patient care.
Essential Job Functions:
- Measuring and recording vital signs
- Recording patient interview, history, allergies, medications and chief complaint
- Preparing patients for examinations and performing routine screening tests
- Assisting the nurse practitioners with exams and procedures
- Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens (if documented training from school)
- Performing basic lab tests
- Keep work area clean while practicing infection control measures per Policy Manual
- Using CPR skills when required
- Maintaining supplies, equipment, and stocking
- Disposing of biohazard waste according to standards identified in Policy Manual
- Practicing all safety standards as identified in the Policy Manual
- Performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times

Occupational Exposure:
- High risk exposure to blood borne pathogens and chemical hazards
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Floats as requested by the manager or Nurse Practitioner
- Assists in the orientation of new personnel when requested
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Must be able to float as needed through these additional responsibilities:
- Front desk reception
- Answering phones and scheduling appointments
- Greet patients, completion of registration forms, and give instructions
- Filing and maintaining medical records
- Miscellaneous office duties including taking payments using credit card machine
- Maintaining supplies and equipment
- Performing computer skills in patient billing & scheduling (will train)
- Communication skills using appropriate terminology within their scope of training
- Following appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of a formal education program such as CNA/Phlebotomist
- Current state licensure including CPR certification
- One year of clinical practice preferred
