Description
TJC Facilities and Construction Department is seeking a full time 12 month Fire Alarm Technician with a minimum 1-year experience servicing commercial systems. The position will report to the Electrical Supervisor. Candidate will assist with inspections, test alarm systems, troubleshoot and document any issues. Responsible for responding to emergency service calls during business hours as well as after hour calls.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Experience in fire alarm systems.
- Inspect and test systems to ensure all components are performing and comply with safety requirements.
- Identify and repair malfunctions in system components or wiring, including identifying and installing replacement parts as necessary.
- Provide basic assistance to the Campus Electrical department as assigned.
- May have to access small spaces such as ceilings and attics.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Mechanically inclined, with strong attention to detail.
- Must have excellent organizational, strong written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards is a plus, including 70 and 72.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with public, students, and College employees.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions.
- Be able to differentiate between conductor cable colors.
- Ability to lift heavy items.
Qualifications
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
Minimum of one-year related experience and/or training.
Credentials: Certifications/Licensures
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record
