A Transfer Success Coach is a 12 month full-time position that reports to the Director of Foundations for Student Success/Title III Program Director. This position is responsible for promoting a positive and successful student experience to increase student retention, success, completion and entrance into the workforce of TJC students. The coach tracks and monitors student progress semester-to-semester and refers students to appropriate resources. Coaches will help students with goal setting, transfer preparation, transfer events, and provide continuous communication and follow-ups to maximize academic and career goal attainment. This position is fully grant funded.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides proactive outreach and personalized coaching for students and program participants to ensure successful transfer to a university of choice;Connect students to resources at transfer university to ensure success;Actively initiates and continues ongoing guidance to students whose grades, attendance, and/or personal barriers put them academically at risk and on academic probation;Consistently engages with students to promote success by performing one-on-one meetings, phone calls, face-to-face video chat, and hosting workshops to prepare students for transfer to 4-year institutions;Monitors and records students’ progression through program and ensures timely coordination of registration and other academic deadlines;Audits, monitors, and evaluates individual student academic progress;Provides a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and service excellence;Documents student interactions in an accurate and timely manner, maintains all required reports and assists in the development of ways to increase student engagement in the academic process;Refers students to appropriate resources both on and off campus;Aids students in problem solving issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals, persistence, and completion;Perform other duties as assigned.COMPETENCIESAbility to effectively manage a caseload of studentsEffective written and oral communication skills to accurately present information professionally and accuratelyStrong organizational skills and the ability to guide and motivate othersPositive attitude, high level of energy and enthusiasmAbility to work variable hours, including some evenings and weekendsAbility to work with students of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.Proficient in Microsoft office suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
