What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician position at Tyler Retina Consultants?
We are a busy Retina Practice seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team full time! We are looking for someone who will join us long term, loves working with patients and has experience in a fast-paced medical practice. The successful candidate will possess a friendly demeanor, the ability to work well with others and a commitment for quality patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Room patients, apply dilating drops, take patient history and enter information into our EMR system.
- Knowledge on working up patients, such as taking a past systemic and ocular history, vision check, pupil check, APD check, ocular motility check, applanation IOP check, blood pressure check and other pre-exam diagnostic procedures.
- Assist Minor procedures, such as Intravitreal injections, C3F8, Laser procedures include the following: PRP, Focal lasers.
- Refill prescriptions, pre-authorize medications, review post-op instructions with patients, educate patients on Dx and Tx.
- Answer phone calls to triages patient's questions or concerns.
- Perform diagnostic testings: OCT, FA, Fundus Photography
Qualifications :
- (Ideally) must have clinical experience – Ophthalmology, Medical, and EMR experience preferred but not required (retina a plus)
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing (OCT, Microperimetry, Angiography, photography)
- Must be proficient in typing (at least 50 WPM) and good at spelling, punctuation, and grammar. (Ability to scribe)
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing
- Must have professional demeanor, conduct, and work ethic
- Highly organized with a positive attitude and able to multitask
- Must be a team player
