What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Service Manager position at Tyler Run Auto Sales?
Tyler Run Auto Sales is now seeking an Assistant Manager for our service repair shop.
Essential duties/responsibilities:
- Supervise service department staff/dispatch work to technicians
- Order parts/supplies as needed
- Communicate with service customers to determine the nature of any mechanical problem(s).
- Indicate on repair order the exact repair instructions, making a special note of the main reason(s) the customer brought the vehicle in.
- Provide estimates for labor and parts. If the cost of service cannot be established during reception, leave open and contact the customer later, by phone, for approval.
- Establish ''time promised.'' Dispatch work accordingly.
- Obtain customer's signature on repair order; provide customer with a copy.
- Follow up progress of each repair order during the day. Contact customers by telephone regarding any changes in the estimate or time promised. Record changes on repair order in approved fashion.
- Handle telephone inquiries regarding work in process and appointments.
- Compare final invoice with original repair order.
- Test-drive vehicles as necessary.
- Be responsible for quality control, to ensure that work is completed as requested and to reduce comebacks.
- Maintain safety/upkeep of the shop
- Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
Starting pay will be based on prior experience.
Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. General knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations required. Prior experience in automotive repair or parts sales preferred. Prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred. Drivers license and good driving record required. PC skills--ability to be trained on company's computer systems.
