Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- 1st Responsibility – Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
- Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
- Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
- Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, shipping orders, customer paperwork, to route materials.
- Print less-than-truckload (LTL) documents.
- Bill less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipments.
- Confer or correspond with carrier representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications. File claims as needed.
- Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
- Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials; assist to find lost or misplaced freight.
- Determine best shipping methods for materials to be shipped.
- Assist Sales with any special customer requests.
