GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • The Aircraft Electrician is a key member of the maintenance and modification team, responsible for troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and avionics systems on rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft. This role may require up to 50% travel to support field maintenance and modification programs. Travel may be to various locations including overseas. When not traveling, the Aircraft Electrician will support various aviation maintenance programs, including routine inspections, troubleshooting, and upgrades on multiple aircraft platforms.

DUTIES

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft electrical and avionics systems in accordance with manufacturer and service guidance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair wiring, lighting, power distribution, navigation, communication, and mission systems.
  • Install and route pre-terminated and custom wire harnesses, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Remove, inspect, repair, and reinstall electrical and avionics components such as circuit breakers, connectors, antennas, sensors, and instruments.
  • Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and routine inspections of electrical systems to ensure aircraft readiness.
  • Use technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and DOD documentation for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Comply with engineering specifications, maintenance instructions, technical orders (TOs), and service bulletins.
  • Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to conduct fault isolation and system testing.
  • Perform modifications and upgrades, including new system integrations and software updates.
  • Execute post-maintenance operational checks and system functional tests to verify airworthiness.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance actions in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Communicate technical concerns, progress updates, and scheduling constraints to supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Apply a solutions-oriented approach to troubleshooting and customer service, ensuring efficient problem resolution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/ REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have completed a military aviation specialty course or accredited aviation vocational school with at least 6 years of related aviation maintenance experience
  • An FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is desired
  • Must provide own hand tools, specialized tooling and test equipment shall be provided
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret or higher security clearance
  • Experience on rotary platforms highly preferred
  • Must possess effective communication skills with experience in inter-discipline team environment desired

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.

Environmental Factors:

  • Work in an inside/outside environment to include working around machinery, objects, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Excessive noise and vibration that can be intermittent or constant.
  • Environmental conditions can included but not limited to dust, silica, asbestos, fumes, smoke, gas, solvents such as degreasing agents, grease, oils, and electrical energy
  • Working on slippery or uneven surfaces
  • Working closely with others or working alone
  • Possible protracted or irregular hours of work as needed or required.
