GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Aviation Tool Room Attendant (Mechanic I) is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining tools, equipment, and supplies within an aviation hangar. This position integrates basic aircraft maintenance knowledge with tool control responsibilities to support mechanics and ensure seamless hangar operations. The ideal candidate will have fundamental mechanical skills, experience in tool management, and an understanding of aircraft maintenance procedures to assist in supporting aviation operations.
DUTIES
Maintain accurate records of tools, equipment, and calibrated instruments using manual logs and computer-based tracking systems (e.g., TcMax or equivalent).
Perform periodic inventory audits and maintain a perpetual inventory system for tools, equipment, and consumables.
Receive, inspect, and store aviation tools, components, and maintenance supplies.
Conduct basic tool and equipment inspections, ensuring they are in proper working condition and free from defects.
Assist in troubleshooting tool-related issues and facilitate basic repairs or replacements when needed.
Track and monitor calibrated tools, ensuring they are maintained in compliance with aviation maintenance standards.
Support maintenance personnel by ensuring quick and accurate issuance of tools and materials.
Transport tools and equipment for load testing, calibration, and maintenance using company vehicles (must qualify for an operator's license).
Assist with routine maintenance support, including basic inspections, documentation updates, and adherence to maintenance standards.
Monitor, store, and handle hazardous materials (HAZMAT) following safety and regulatory guidelines.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, DCMA, and AS9110 standards for tool and equipment management.
Operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and hand trucks, to transport equipment within the facility.
Perform other duties as assigned to support hangar and maintenance operations.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience in aviation tool control, supply logistics, or warehouse operations preferred.
Basic understanding of aircraft maintenance procedures, tools, and aviation safety standards.
Experience using TcMax or similar tool control software is highly desirable.
Proficiency with inventory tracking systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Costpoint experience is a plus).
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to support maintenance operations.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Must be able to walk and stand on level and / or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.

Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow / knee and reach above / below shoulders.
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances
Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
