General Description:
Responsible for planning and directing quality assurance policies, programs and initiatives. Lead a diverse team of professionals in support of a dynamic mechanical and electrical manufacturing business.
Duties
- Responsible for ensuring all products and processes meet required quality standards and specifications.
- Develop, implement and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with AS/ISO industry standards and best practices. Serve as the primary quality interface with external auditors and customers.
- Develop and execute quality audit plans to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Lead, manage and mentor a team of quality engineers, inspectors and specialists to support business requirements and drive quality improvement throughout the manufacturing operation.
- Collaborate with other departments including contracts, production operations, supply chain and engineering to ensure quality is integrated throughout the manufacturing process.
- Drive quality throughout the supply chain by ensuring products and services provided by external suppliers meet quality standards. Oversee supplier selection, conduct audits, monitor performance and actively collaborate with suppliers to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Develop, track and report quality metrics to executive management on a recurring basis.
- Interface directly with external customers and internal stakeholders to support current and future programs and opportunities in alignment with business objectives.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality management or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management within a mechanical and electrical manufacturing environment.
- Extensive working knowledge of FAR, DFARS and government contract performance.
- Strong background in ISO and AS quality standards, certification process and audits.
- Professional quality certifications highly desired.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills to direct and motivate teams.
- Strong attention to detail in identifying and resolving quality issues.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret data and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and to present quality reports to executive management.
- Highly proficient in quality management tools and methodologies like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA), Fishbone and Pareto diagrams.
