Job Details :

Hours : 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm or upon completion of assigned work

Pay : $16.70 per Hour

SUMMARY : Responsible for taking daily samples on production floor and performing general microbiological duties within the lab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Collect micro samples throughout various stages of the process
Monitor lab inventory and order lab supplies
Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of lab and equipment; autoclaving lab equipment and making media
Test samples for Salmonella, Campylobacter, APC
Perform antibiotic tests on feed samples
Other duties as assigned

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE :

In the absence of a Lab Technician I, a trained Lab technician, Lab Supervisor, or Sr. Manager of FSQA will take on all quality and food safety related duties conducted by the Lab Technician I.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Ability to operate equipment and handle lab materials safely and effectively, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and laboratory practices

Ability to work efficiently at a fast pace; meeting speed requirements

Able to discern and pay attention to quality of product and work output

Must be able to work independently and make decisions

Willingness to function as part of a team and work toward team goals

Eagerness to learn new ideas

Preparedness to assist in other areas of production and work overtime as required

Education and / or Experience :

High School diploma preferred or equivalent acceptable

Basic knowledge of aseptic technique and microbiology

Basic computer knowledge required

Must be able to perform basic arithmetic and calculations

Physical Requirements / Environment :

Rarely (0-1 hrs.) : climb or work at unprotected heights (step up onto production stand), kneel, crouch or crawl

Occasionally (1-3 hrs.) : lift / carry, push / pull (up to 45 lbs.), sit, squat, balance

Frequently (3-6 hrs.) : lift / carry (up to 10 lbs.), simple / firm grasping, reach above shoulder, fine manipulation / keyboarding, bend / stoop, twist / turn

Continuously (6-8 hrs.) : stand / walk, work around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature, around and amongst poultry dust and odor as well as chemical fumes, work in wet / humid environment or cold environment less than 40

F, talk and hear, use 20 / 20 vision with or without corrective lenses and distinguish colors

Rehire Consideration :

Max of two (2) previous Tyson Employments to be considered for hire.

90 days (3 months) waiting period.
