Summary:
The position is responsible for managing the derivative accounting (Commodity Risk Management CRM accounting) process in its entirety including ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the CRM financial statements reports and financial statement footnotes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring that our CRM and Operational group leaders and their team members are informed of and understand the daily weekly monthly quarterly reporting as well as working proactively with them to ensure proper hedge accounting treatment of our physical and financial positions, including integrating acquired companies into Tyson’s CRM processes. This position provides process and technical guidance and overall vision of the CRM accounting function. Specific responsibilities include providing overall technical guidance and counsel to CRM and Operational group leaders; supervision and review of staff daily weekly monthly quarterly prepared reports broker statement reconciliations derivative designation forms mark-to-market activities position reports foreign exchange positions daily trade ticket reconciliations corporate and business unit books and journal entries; preparation of various bank tax and finance department reports, and facilitation of auditor requests. Other duties include preparing related financial statement disclosures for 10Q/K, keeping current with changing accounting requirements or trends, maintaining compliance with numerous key Sarbanes-Oxley controls, facilitating periodic Risk Committee meetings with senior executives, and other ad hoc analyses as requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with an emphasis in Accounting. CPA a plus.
Experience: 8 plus years of experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Requires standard computer skills. For example, generating spreadsheet or word processing macros; excel pivot tables, developing templates for use by other team members; or preparing complex graphic presentations. Experience with commodity trading and accounting platforms a plus.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Travel: 1 plus domestic trips per year.
