Job Description: The Maintenance Technician Generalist at Tyson RVI-Harmony rendering plant is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the reliable operation of equipment and facilities. This position requires a broad range of technical skills, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Maintenance Technician Generalist will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery, including lubrication, inspections, adjustments, and replacements, to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and mechanical issues, diagnosing problems and implementing repairs or adjustments as needed to minimize downtime.
- Conduct electrical maintenance tasks, such as troubleshooting electrical circuits, replacing fuses, switches, and motors, and performing basic electrical repairs.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and other mechanical components, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and conveyors.
- Assist in the installation, setup, and calibration of new equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct facility maintenance tasks, including plumbing repairs, carpentry work, and general building maintenance, to ensure a safe and functional work environment.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment readings, and repairs performed, recording data in logbooks and computerized systems.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to schedule maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and address urgent maintenance needs.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in maintenance techniques and technologies.
- Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair a variety of equipment and machinery.
- Experience with preventive maintenance practices, including knowledge of lubrication techniques, inspections, and equipment reliability principles.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support production schedules and operational needs.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures applicable to maintenance activities and industrial environments.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, lift heavy objects, and perform tasks at heights and in confined spaces.
