Tzumi Pets is a leading wholesale pet accessory company located in midtown NYC working with brands such as Dog Whisperer, Cat Whisperer, Spyder and Quicksilver. Our Design team is responsible for establishing the trends, color, and style direction for our customer-driven lines. They create pet apparel and bed designs to be shared with internal teams during trend presentations, and external teams at buyer meetings. Once orders are placed, the Design team project manages and oversees the sample development and production process in conjunction with cross-functional partners.

We are looking for a Pet Apparel / Accessories Designer to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fashion, a keen eye for trends, and a demonstrated ability to mold junior designers. Additionally, this person must be able to execute these essential responsibilities :

Collaborate with the Head Designer on the direction for the styling, fabrication, and color development of multiple pet categories, and to produce seasonal trend and color concepts.

Shop the market and oversee sourcing for new and innovative fabrics, trims, and technology.

Design and recommend product lines with consideration given to trend, silhouettes, and cost of goods.

Produce detailed tech packs and follow through the entire development of the product from the initial line to final pre-production samples.

Understand and incorporate market intelligence and business strategy into product design.

Independently produce development concepts and oversee execution of sampling.

Prepare for, attend, and present at internal meetings and external buyer meetings.

Present seasonal concept trend, print, and color to senior team.

Project manage and oversee the sample development and production process.

Develop strong working relationships with cross functional team members (Sales, Production and Graphics) through communication and problem solving.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

5 years’ working experience in fashion design and a degree in Fashion.

Must have knowledge of garment construction and category specific fabrications.

Ability to work across multiple brands / customers.

Proficiency in Photoshop, & Illustrator, Microsoft Excel a plus.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Must be organized and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Effective overseas e-mail communication.

Positive attitude and a team player.
