Major Responsibilities :
- Processes and releases orders using pharmacy dispense queue.
- Oncology order set up through gathering drug, diluent, base solution, tubing, filters, labels, as well as anything else required for compounding.
- Delivers patient medications to patient's rooms and medication room areas.
- Maintains inventory, reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications in the pharmacy as well as floor stock medication provided via Pyxis.
- Familiar with pharmacy technology and equipment. Capable of troubleshooting technical problems.
- Prepares and packages all forms of medications.
- Maintains required documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements and maintains respect for patient confidentiality.
- Generates necessary pharmacy reports.
- Conducts medication room inspections in assigned patient care area in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assembles drugs in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Repackages bulk drugs and supplies into units of use containers.
- Maintains a clean work area and assists in quality indicator monitoring.
- Assists with yearly inventory in assigned areas.
- Participates in identifying problems or areas for improvement and assists supervisor with problem solving projects and improving operations.
- Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and / or teams.
- Prepares intravenous (IV) drugs using aseptic technique in compounding cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted monoclonal antibodies, immunotherapy, oncolytic viruses and other IV drugs.
- Cleans IV room floors and surfaces according to institutional policy.
