What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Preservation Home-Based Worker position at U.P. Kids?
Families Together Building Solutions (FTBS) is a program contracted with MDHHS that provides intensive in-home prevention services to high-risk families and to families reuniting following Foster Care. The approach is to address the whole family, with every intervention being unique based on what goals the family identifies. Solution-Focused strategies are used to help families identify their strengths and find their own solutions, and to develop Protective Factors that help families develop resilience, reduce the risk and impact of trauma associated with child abuse and neglect.
The FTBS office is located in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan but candidate can live in any one of the Counties in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Travel to homes in the 5-county area and ability to transport family to appointments is required. Some work tasks can be completed from home, and many meetings are virtual. There are weekly supervision and team meetings, ongoing training, and a supportive work environment. This is a Full-time position with flexible hours but does require availability to work around family’s schedules.
Pay Scale: (Starting $19.09 hour) with annual merit and cost of living increases, travel reimbursement, phone and computer provided. Excellent benefit package including holiday pay and health care. Position provides flexible work hours and opportunity to work with a great team! Extensive training provided, but prior experience working with families and/or working in the field of Child Welfare is preferred.

- Bachelor’s Degree in the Field of the Human Services or Education or Associates working on Bachelor's and 2 years experience. Valid Driver's license & reliable transportation. Criminal Background Checks. Ability to write objective reports.
