This is a civilian position that works for a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports the Air Force Academy. This position does not require military service or graduation from the United States Air Force Academy.
The Institute for Future Conflict (IFC) is dedicated to creating and cultivating flexible warfighters who are prepared to prevail in conflict no matter what form it may take in the future. The IFC does this by working across all three mission elements ? the Dean of Faculty, the Cadet Wing, and the Athletic Department ? at the United States Air Force Academy and shaping cadets in the classroom, on the training ground, and through athletic competition.
The Front Range Consortium is a coalition of colleges and universities along the front range of the Rocky Mountains dedicated to establishing the area as a center for U.S. national security debates with the idea of connecting Colorado to the coasts.
THE OVERVIEW
The Institute for Future Conflict (IFC) at the United States Air Force Academy is seeking qualified candidates for the full time, on-site position of Director of the Front Range Consortium, who will report directly to the foundation liaison at the IFC.
The director will work internally within USAFA and externally within the partners schools of the Front Range Consortium (FRC) to build and develop robust relationships between institutions, professors, and students to ensure that the FRC is a center of national security discussions and debates. The director will solicit and incorporate the expertise of other fellows at the IFC, such as the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Senior Fellow and the Future Pacing Threats Senior Fellow, as well as many others to design faculty-student workshops, an annual conference, and to solicit articles for the IFC website.
The fellow will also be required to submit semi-annual activity updates to the IFC Director, Associate Director, and Air Force Academy Foundation Liaison to demonstrate progress towards achieving the requirements of the position.
This position will require significant travel along the front range, from a base in Colorado Springs up to Denver, Boulder, and Ft. Collins.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
- Understand, uphold, and promote the standards, core values and priorities of USAFA and the IFC
- Establish good working relationships with administration and faculty of the FRC member schools
- Organize and run an annual public conference
- Establish a working relationship with a university press to publish the annual Anschutz lectures as a book
- Develop and administer two annual faculty-student workshops among the partner schools of the FRC
- Organize an annual staff ride to Washington DC with cadets and students from partner schools of the FRC
- Develop and administer an application process for faculty research grants at partner schools
- Develop and administer a ?scholars program? for cadets and students at member schools
- Work closely with IFC leadership and fellows on IFC?s annual essay and fiction competitions, which are open to undergraduates at member schools
- Visit each member school at least twice per month

- Demonstrated experience managing a budget
- A strong work ethic, a commitment to high performance and teamwork and a proven ability and desire to reach increasingly aggressive goals
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor?s Degree required, Master?s Degree or higher desired
- 2 years experience planning and organizing large conferences
- Management or supervisory experience
- Experience working in an academic environment
- Understanding of national security interests
- A valid driver?s license and insurance
- Ability to pass a DBIDS background check which is required to maintain access to the IFC offices at the Air Force Academy
