Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DoD Prevention Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position : Serves as Data Scientist for US Army Integrated Prevention Advisory Group (I-PAG) at Fort Cavazos, Texas. This position primarily exists to integrate, plan, and evaluate primary prevention efforts pertaining to sexual assault, harassment, suicide, domestic abuse, child abuse, and retaliation. Responsibilities Collaborate with prevention partners, such as Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention Program (SHARP) to examine harmful behaviors in order to conduct routine statistical analysis of command-wide data from primary prevention initiatives Lead process development of routine data collection and analysis of prevention activities. Performs data mining to design dashboards and other information portals. Serve as a Data Scientist for US Army Integrated Prevention Advisory Group (I-PAG) to provide data support to the organization. Formulate data informed recommendations on policy and reporting procedures to ensure program effectiveness, in order to support primary prevention and conditions that promote healthy behaviors. Support the development of proposals and projects that align with primary prevention research and policy goals for data science. Evaluate the organizations primary prevention efforts pertaining to violence trauma such as sexual assault, harassment, suicide, domestic abuse, child abuse, and retaliation. Integrate primary prevention activities to recommend acceptable adaptations for primary prevention activities. Collaborate with experts in the analysis of public health data related to primary prevention initiatives. Analyze complex data elements such as data flows, dependencies, and relationships in order to contribute to conceptual physical and logical data models. Conduct complex studies using advanced data analysis and algorithm development, requiring a high level of technical proficiency to innovate and expand current capabilities. Degree : Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. (NOTE : You must submit transcripts.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience : Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below : Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) conducting analysis of data from primary prevention initiatives to recommend policy and / or reporting procedure modifications to enhance program effectiveness, managing all aspects of complex integrated prevention programs, 2) developing proposals that align with primary prevention research and / or policy goals for data science, analyzing work operations to meet program requirements with available resources, OR assisting in developing guidance related to primary prevention efforts based on data research findings.
