Clarification from the agency
U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
Duties- Provides care of all animals, including horses and various household pets kept at the stables, kennels and/or petting Zoo.
- Performs work according to established methods or follows special instructions.
- Responsible for keeping stables, kennel and premises in a clean and sanitary condition, and for the security and welfare of all animals.
- Responsible for the correct identity and quantities of various foods for each animal following specified or special schedule.
- Observes animals to be continually aware of appearance, behavioral or health changes, takes corrective action and informs management, veterinarian personnel or owner as necessary.
Conditions of Employment- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.

- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.

- This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
- As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:- Knowledge of animals' characteristics, needs and behavior, and skill in observing, handling and caring for animals.
- Able to follow complex instructions, ability to maintain records.
- Highly Perferred candidates will posses a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist certificate (CESMT).
- Those applicants that meet the highly preferred criteria will be referred to management first. If no selection is made from the highly preferred applicants, applicants that meet the minimum qualifications will be sent to management. ***

- This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
- All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
- Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
