About the Position : This position is with the U.S Army Sustainment Command, 404TH Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, located in JBLM, WA. Responsibilities Verify materials against contracts, purchase orders, and / or specifications. Prepare discrepancy reports for identified issues. Handle hazardous materials following regulatory procedures. Review documentation for accuracy during inventory. Examine equipment for defects. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of an Materials Examiner and Identifier (Fork Lift Operator) without more than normal supervision. Perform the full range of Materials Examiner and Identifier duties, which include receiving, examining, and verifying a wide variety of materials and equipment, inspecting items for defects and discrepancies, handling hazardous materials according to regulatory criteria, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and operating forklifts for material movement and storage. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort : Materials examiners and identifiers, grade 5, perform moderate to heavy lifting when moving material by hand or handtruck. They walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. The work requires bending, stooping, and pushing and pulling heavy material along conveyor lines. Working Conditions : Work is performed inside in a warehouse environment and outside in containment areas on a year round basis. Examiners may be subject to cuts, bruises, abrasions, and scrapes in moving or handling materials and equipment and are subject to hazards involved in working in proximity to moving equipment such as forklifts, trucks, cranes, and conveyor lines. When handling hazardous materials, protective equipment is provided. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial / probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
