Duties

• Administer the radiation protection program for United States Army Test and Evaluation Command, White Sands Test Center in areas such as ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
• Serve as the Program Manager providing guidance of areas such as ionizing radiation producing devices or materials used at the organization.
• Analyze problems anticipated for possible applications of new developments in the field of health physics.
• Lead a team on radiation safety issues within the White Sands Missile Range Installation Safety Office.

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Basic Requirement For Health Physicist:

• Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus.

• Combination of Education and Experience: Courses, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education.
  
  

OR

• Certification: Certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Develop procedures for the handling of radioactive materials; AND 2) Conduct on-site inspections of operations to ensure compliance with established standards of radioactive materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11/NH-02).

ATEC uses salary control points to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broadband.
