About the Position : Serve as the Chief of Public Affairs, responsible for the development, execution, and evaluation of the Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Public Affairs program. Incumbent serves as personal adviser to the Commander and primary staff concerning the Public Affairs program and communications issues Command-wide.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Preparing a variety of communications for dissemination to the public, local and national social media sources, such as news releases, articles, informational materials, and written publications; (2) Participating in public forums, events, meetings and conferences to educate, inform and address agency missions, projects and issues, some of a sensitive and / or controversial nature; and (3) Conducting situational analysis to determine the most effective method, mode and timeliness for handling both routine and critical / sensitive situations and related communications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade / level position in the federal service (GS-12).

  • Time in Grade Requirement : Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
