RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review proposals, specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and estimate requirements
- Complete full cost estimates for assigned work items including self-review of work
- Review and compare estimated cost items to historical cost data
- Collaborate with engineering and shop to develop cost effective solutions
- Assign fabrication hours (discuss with shop if necessary)
- Prepare information for bid documents and pricing for bid review
- Support project operations on extra work change orders
- Maintain records and working documents for estimating cost models, takeoff templates, etc
- Stay current on equipment options and new fabrication processes within the shop
- Continually develop technical skills, as required by the team
- Set a productive and consistent work example for your peers
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
- Proficient computer skills in excel & word, preferably pivot table, formulas & charts
- Ability to read blueprints & specifications
- Ability to understand fabrication processes (this will be developed by spending time in the processing and fabrication shops)
- Ability to estimate on multiple projects at the same time with proven time management skills
- Strong work ethic to complete tasks/bids accurately and on time
- Ability to work independently or as a team member
- Solid attention to detail with the ability to solve problems
