What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant 1 position at U.S. Cellular?
- Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements and various other accounting statements and reports.
- Prepares journal entries, maintains and reconciles ledger accounts.
- Assist in the monthly closing process for assigned area of responsibility.
- Prepares assigned account reconciliations and detailed financial analysis as requested..
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
- Provide business partners and management with actual-to-budget variance analysis working with business partners to identify causes and resolution of variances.
- Respond to financial inquiries of field management providing requested information for use in effective field management of the business.
- Participates on cross-functional teams as required.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
- Learns to use acceptable accounting practices.
- Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks.
- Following standard practices and procedures, Accountants analyze situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
- Work is routine and instructions are usually detailed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- Zero to two to of Accounting experience
- Knowledge of Standard Accounting Practices
- Knows fundamental accounting concept, practices and procedures.
- Strong PC literacy skills in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access and Word)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate with associates and others in the department.
