Duties
This position is responsible for vehicle / equipment upkeep and for facility infrastructure support and maintenance.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include :
- Measuring, cutting, consructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood, and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product.
- Applying general knowledge of wood, composite materials, wood substitutes, and woodworking techniques, as well as basic shop mathematics to plan, measure, and lay out materials.
- Performing routine maintenance, overhaul, and repair of standard types of mechanical locking devices.
- Painting and standard coating methods such as Brushing, rolling, and spraying.
- Removing old roofing in preparation for repair and installing roofs.
- Operating grass cutting mowers and farm-type tractors with attached equipment to maintain grounds.
